Each detail of literature or clinical data is reduced to a theoretical validation of the author’s ideology. Egregiously, the writer identifies behavior or thoughts or feelings of his patients or the literary characters he reduces to clinical patients as synecdoche of a theory; it is as simplistic as it self-affirming of his profession. Within psychoanalytic practice, as a legitimate framework, he literally adds nothing new. It’s sad because psychoanalysis has a lot to add to our lives; this author ironically misses that addition and instead sees it as a repository of solutions independent of other paradigms.
